Day 4 (aka longest day of my life)

So we are currently staying in Cusco. We got up early this morning to participate in the Festival Inti Raymi which is held every year. First off the ENTIRE thing is in Quechua which I dont understand a word of. But there are several people who participate and they are seperated into 4 groups for the 4 different Incan empires that were in Peru. And at the end the Incan king who anciently lived exactly where they hold the ceremony today would come and sing to greet the sun. (sorry about the pic but there were a ton of people and i was far away and facing the sun)

Then from Qourikancha we all follow the Inca to the plaza in the middle of the city where they continue worshiping. This pic doesnt even begin to show the amount of people there.

From the Plaza everyone follows the Inca and the other participants all the way to the top of the hill in the city. Litterally thousands of people walking but since we are privalged american tourists we took a bus and got there early we waited forever for the thing to start. The overall story of the whole thing is that a messenger is sent from each of the four kingdoms telling the Incan about what had been going on and after all four give thier reports they sacrifice a Llama (which i thought was real for a moment) in giving thanks to the sun and according to the way in which the intestines and heart were extracted it predicted how the rest of the year would go.

I have alot more in videos but the thing wont let me put them on here. sorry.
